Built with meticulous craftsmanship in 2003, this 1866 square foot, 3 bedrooms, 2 bath home offers a spacious kitchen that features a Viking stove, stainless steel appliances, custom cabinetry, soapstone countertops and sink, and large walk-in pantry. The master bath has a freestanding claw-foot tub and a large glass enclosed shower with tiled walls and floors. There is a first floor laundry/mud room with a tiled floor for easy cleanup, a high efficiency Buderus furnace and two zone central air. The antique feel of this home is enhanced by the stenciled walls, interior and exterior period lighting, hand crafted HL hinges and door latches which add so much beauty to this home. There are bullseye glass transoms above the exterior doors and custom made four panel doors throughout the house. An oversized two bay carriage barn with transoms and a staircase to a second floor offers ample parking and storage while complementing the home. There is a Goshen stone patio and steps. A copula and weathervane adds the perfect finishing touch to complete it. All on a quiet country road.

Why We Are Relocating

Many years ago, when we were just starting out with alpacas, we used Mark Loffhagan, as our shearer. As you may or may not know, shearing day is a very hectic but festive day as friends and family gather to help with the shearing process. On one such occasion, our son Jason was there to help. He caught the eye of Mark as he watched him throughout the day. He liked the way Jason handled our animals, so much so that he offered Jason a spot on his crew if he was willing to take a shearing class. We thought it was a great opportunity and encouraged Jason to do it. What I haven’t mentioned so far is that Mark is a New Zealander or “Kiwi” and would be making arrangements for Jason’s shearing class in New Zealand! Being a world traveler already, Jason thought it was a great idea and he had heard the surfing in New Zealand was killer and wanted to check it out. That December he flew out to take his class and stayed a few weeks more to practice his new skills on the large sheep population there. He was probably checking out the surfing but that’s what he told us. He loved it in New Zealand. The next year Jason flew out again to take another class. He stayed longer this time and when he returned home, he announced he was going to move there and sure enough, the next year, he did. So that is how our only child ended up on the other side of the world. We can’t complain too much because he met his beautiful wife Sarah there and now we have three gorgeous Grandsons, Manoa, Olo and Koa.

It took us several years before we could travel to New Zealand but now that we have, we love it there too. Being there is such a joyous time for us. Our grandsons are with us all the time as we explore the island on new adventures. Being an avid fly fisherman, Michael has taken to it like a duck to water or should I say “trout” to water! The fishing there is phenomenal! Manoa and Olo caught their first trout last year when we took them fishing at Lake Taupo. It was a very memorable day. We hope to share many more experiences with the boys and Jason and Sarah but to do so, sadly, it means our life here in the states must change. Our farm and animals have brought us such happiness and leaving them is heartbreaking but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life starts with saying goodbye. The best endings are the ones that lead to new beginnings.
